Good morning readers,
Recently,my friends participated in a self defense class & I wanted to share with some tips & hacks so that all of us can be safe!
With a little bit of intelligence & self defense techniques,we can all defend ourselves from every types of dangers
NOTE: Self defense is only used to defend oneself from attackers etc.It is not used to seek revenge & attack friends or people around.
1.Get out of a zip tie
Zip ties are one of the most common restraint tools used by kidnappers, since they’re much cheaper than handcuffs. Using just your own body and some determination, you can force your way out of them.
2.Stop someone from targeting you in an elevator by stopping at every floor.
Let’s say you’re entering your apartment building or leaving the office late at night and an unfamiliar person follows you onto the elevator. Press all of the floor buttons. No one will dare to attack you if the door is opening constantly.
3.If someone tries to to rob or attack you in your home, head for the kitchen.
Only you, the person who lives there, knows where you keep the knives, breakable plates, and spices that could potentially be turned into harmful weapons. If all else fails, just start screaming and throwing utensils and pans to create noise to alert neighbors.
4.If someone tries to attack you,do not stand still
Even if you’re not an athlete or trained in self-defense, you have the capabilities to fight someone off. Inexperienced fighters are prone to standing still, so remember to utilize all available body parts, like your knees, elbows, and legs.
5. Store your valuables in a maxi pad wrapper.
This one sounds crazy but it’s quite useful if you live in an area where there are lots of thieves, attack etc . Haha,no worries these are clean
6.Let your hair down and one hand free of bags etc
Unfortunately, ponytails and braids can make an easy route for someone to grab you from behind. If you’re able, put your hair down until you arrive at your destination.
7.What to Do if you Ever Get Kidnapped
If your hands are tied together and you have tape over your mouth, lick the tape until it falls off
Further safety preventions tips are discussed below.Sorry for making you read all that xD
Other tips that may come in handy
- Answer the door :
Typically, we’ve been told, “If you’re home alone and someone knocks, don’t answer – they’ll go away.” Recent events, though, are showing that more and more, burglars are doing home invasions assuming that if no one answers, it’s safe to go in.Experts says that we should answer with a call for who it is, and let them know you’re on the phone or won’t be answering the door or other ways to let the person know you aren’t going to be opening the door. Never actually answer the door even for a service person you are expecting until you’ve been able to confirm that they are actually who they say they are.And if you are home alone,it’s best to close windows & doors but keep the house well lit to give the impression that there is someone in the house reducing the chances of someone breaking into the house. But still, this is not a 100 % guarantee tip ,always be careful & never invite a predator in
- Keep your room neat so you will notice disturbed or missing items quickly upon return.
You return to your car and it has a flat tire. Back away. Return to wherever you came from (restaurant, store, etc) and call for help. Once assistance arrives, approach your car. If someone comes up to you (even if they are a woman) and wants to offer help, politely say, “No thank you.”
When traveling, do not walk with your map in your hand. It is a dead giveaway that you are a tourist. Therefore, you are an easy target. When asking for directions and someone offers to show you the way by having you follow them, do not go. Just ask for them to point you in the right direction. Often, predators just want to get you to a place less crowded where your screams can’t be heard.
Always pour your own drink at a party and bring it with you everywhere…even to the bathroom. This will make it a lot harder for someone to drug you via you drink.
Don’t check-in Facebook when you arrive somewhere. Instead, check in as you leave. This way no one will be able to digitally stalk you and know your every move or when you’re not home. Along the same lines, avoid tweeting or Facebooking from vacation, especially if your account is public, as it’s a way of letting the world know that your home is unoccupied.Your house should appear occupied at all times. Use timers to switch lights and radios on and off when you’re not at home.
You should have defensive tools all over your home, even in the bathroom. Even when you are in the shower, you should not be in a vulnerable position. People outside your home can hear when the water is running constantly and can enter your home by force when they suspect you are in the shower. Have a defensive tool in the bathroom, and lock the door if you are alone. This will give you a few more seconds to get soap out of your eyes and plan something. If you have defensive tools all over your home, then your chance of survival, even if caught by surprise, is much higher
Smash A Window right Away and Scream if an attacker invades your house . Nothing gets a lot of attention like breaking glass and screams. The invaders just might flee right away when that happens and some neighbors might catch the invaders. Their intention was to get in and get out without drawing any attention from other neighbors. The window can be easily fixed, and your throat can be cooled with a cool drink afterwards
If you lose your keys, change the locks immediately.
Instead of keeping a spare key in a mailbox, under the doormat, or on a nail behind the garage, wrap the key in foil — or put it in a 35mm film can — and bury it where you can easily find it if you need it.
- Do not list your full name on your mailbox or your entry in the telephone book. Use only your initial and your last name
These are just suggestions,it depends on the person or the situation & those tips may not always work but if such situation arises, please remain calm and think and try to find a way out. Don’t panic & react intelligently to the situation. Your safety lies in your own hands ! Do share this article & comment your tips, &save a life!
